Germany/Greece, 2024, 76min., Documentary

Νeighboring Greek villages, Pyrgi and Mesovouno, were looted, massacred and burned completely by German troops. Since 2010, the German-Greek cultural association “Dialogos” in Delmenhorst is in close contact with the two villages and succeeded in creating an exchange of students between a German school and three Greek schools.
“Memories from the Occupation and Dialogue for the Future”, with interviews with the German and Greek teachers who started the student exchange program, covers in detail the reasons and how the program started, what problems were encountered, what were the experiences of the German teachers, what were the experiences of the Greek teachers and mainly what were the experiences of German and Greek students.
Also, with testimonies from the massacre survivors and interviews with their relatives, it tries to shed light on the tragic events that took place between October 1941 and April 1944.
Aim is to preserve the historical memory and to stimulate mutual understanding, dialogue and and emphasise that friendships are very important when they are forward-looking.
