Dance Fight Love Die: With Mikis on the road

Dance Fight Love Die: With Mikis on the road by Asteris Kutulas
Germany/Greece, 2017, 89min., Documentary

The film is an exuberant visual epic poem, a clip-like poetic road movie, an associative film collage. And it’s all about the universe of the composer Mikis Theodorakis, an exceptional artist of a dramatic century, who inspired millions around the world, the enfant terrible of recent European music history. The director accompanied Theodorakis from 1987 until 2017 and simply let his camera run: three decades, four continents, 100 locations, 600 hours of film material. The film interweaves very personal moments with archive footage, documentary recordings with humorously bizarre fiction with Theodorakis’ music and its resonance in the interpretations of numerous, mostly young artists in jazz, classic, electro and rap versions.

World Premiere
51st Hof International Film Festival, Germany, 19-30 October 2017
